We have done thorough research for Edexel, Cambridge and IB to provide good understanding to the students for exam preparation. We observe to make our students prepare with minor details of paper solving techniques and hard concepts with equal importance.

How does GCSE Maths differ from IGCSE Maths?

Both GCSE and IGCSE boards are very similar as both are part of the UK education system. Students of Year 11 appear for GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education) to complete their Secondary education in the United Kingdom and whereas students outside the UK are more familiar with the IGCSE (The International General Certificate of Secondary Education). There are key differences between both systems:

Availability and Exam Boards

GCSE Maths: It is offered in the United Kingdom, and you can appear for this exam through Edexcel, OCR and AQA boards.

IGCSE Maths: This paper is designed for mostly international students, and it is offered by the famous boards Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge (CIE).

Syllabus Content

GCSE Maths: As this is the British National curriculum it focuses more on the practical application of the concepts.

IGCSE Maths: This covers more advanced topics, and calculus is also part of the curriculum which is not in the GCSE.

Assessment pattern:

GCSE Maths: It has both calculator and non-calculator papers.

IGCSE Maths: This also has calculator and non-calculator papers, but the style of the questions is bit more flexible which reflects the international standards.

Grading System

GCSE Maths: Grading scale is 9 -1 and 9 is highest score. Many parts in the UK still use A* – G.

IGCSE Maths: Under this system grading system is A*-G and some boards now offer the 9-1 system as well.

Difficulty Level

IGCSE Maths: It is more challenging because additional content is included, and it focuses on the application of the concept.

GCSE Maths: Since this is for local students therefore this type focuses more on the skills and practical implications.
